Improving your New World Weaponsmithing skill is important to ensure you're armed with the best gear to fight off all the mystical foes on Aeternum. There are only a few types of weapons available in New World, but so many variations on these choices that players will miss some weapons features. So in this article, we bring everything you need to know about weapons.
Weapon Mastery Talent Trees
There are two separate skill trees for each weapon, and players can choose attacks or upgrades from either side. Each weapon skill tree includes several options for different abilities and skills that players can get for each weapon. This varies depending on the abilities of each weapon. Talent trees are organized by the character's role and divided between ranged, melee damage, defense, or healing. Players can focus on one tree or use a combination of the two.
No Classes
There are no classes in New World, so the weapons you choose determine whether you play more as a damage dealer, tank, or healer. And as you can equip two very different weapons, even that isn't set in stone: You can switch easily between two different playstyles or use a combination of weapons that complement one another.
Weapon Mastery And Ability Scores
A clever way that New World simplifies Weapon Mastery is by assigning each weapon a primary and sometimes secondary ability score. For example, players working towards weapon mastery with a rapier are considered a DPS class and will build up Dexterity as their primary ability score and Intelligence as their second. These points can be found under the Attributes tab, and it costs new world gold coins to respec these points as opposed to Azoth.
Craft Your Weapons
These weapons obviously can't be conjured out of thin air, so you'll need the right materials in your inventory to craft certain weapons. You'll also need to make sure you meet the Weaponsmithing skill level requirement and must be using a Forge that has been upgraded to an appropriate tier. You can also enhance your crafted weapons by applying Azoth to increase the chance of getting random Perks, Attributes, or Gem Slots. You can also add Special Resources to your weapon to apply a particular Perk as you craft it.
